About Dunedin Thunder
Dunedin Thunder U17 & U16 team is Coached by Coach Scott Johnson. Coach Scott has been a Basketball coach and trainer at various levels since 1996. As a successful travel basketball coach, he has achieved over 140 tournament championships across the country. Currently, he coaches the 2025 SCE UA RISE national team and the Dunedin Thunder.
For the past three years, he coached at Lakeside Christian School, leading the team to back-to-back-to-back winning seasons, including the school's first-ever 20+ win season with a 23-7 record. Under his leadership, Lakeside won its first District Championship and PCPS Championship, reaching the final 8 in the state. He was honored as the 2A District 10 Coach of the Year and the PCPS Coach of the Year. Additionally, in 2024, the boys' basketball team had the highest GPA of any sports team at Lakeside.
Dunedin Thunder's U12 Team is Coached by Coach Nate Clement. Coach Nate has held a strong desire to share his knowledge of the game of basketball with younger athletes since he learned the game at a young age.
He believes through hard work and persistence anything can be accomplished in life!
Coach Nate spent 3 years as a youth basketball coach in Pinellas county….assistant coach for Trinity Bible College and 1 season as Assistant coach with Tampa Bay Titans semi-pro club. Coach Nate will also be an assistant Coach for our 8th Grade Team! We look forward to the future with these great coaches developing these young rising stars!
Dunedin Thunder Inc. is a not for profit and our mission is to help the kids on our team develop into Varsity and College Basketball Players. Most of the boys on our teams aspire to play D1 Basketball and Professional Basketball! If you would like to be apart of their dream by becoming a sponsor let us know!
